A surface low currently across central Texas will track eastward bringing deep moisture into the state for the second half of the weekend.
Although I can’t rule out any rain showers today, the best chances of rain and a few thunderstorms will increase tonight into Sunday.
A good mix of clouds and sun are expected today, with temperatures reaching the upper 60’s and low 70’s this afternoon.
Widespread rain and a few thunderstorms will move into the state from west to east late today. Precipitation will continue into Sunday morning.
Look for rain totals to average around one inch, with some areas receiving locally heavier amounts around 2 inches.
The models indicate a dry slot will move into the area Sunday afternoon and expect a break in the rain. However with unsettled conditions in place, a few thunderstorms could still be possible.
The instability and shear values remain too low to support any severe weather across northern and central sections. We do expect some strong storms across southern areas of the state, where the instability will be the best.
