A rather dreary day is shaping up for much of Alabama, especially east of Interstate 59.
A large rain shield is spreading northward from the Gulf and will continue into the afternoon and overnight hours.
The heaviest rain will remain in southern sections, generally from near Mobile to Montgomery and points south. These areas may see locally heavy rainfall totals with some flooding possible. Flash Flood Watches remain in effect for those areas.
Meanwhile a ‘cool wedge’ has nosed it’s way into east Alabama from Georgia. This wedge will keep temperatures from rising much today in the presence of widespread clouds and rain.
Temperatures should remain steady in the mid to upper 50’s across the eastern areas of the state.
The extreme northern and northwest areas will see the least amount of rain, but clouds are a sure bet for everyone.
The rain shield will be a bit slow to move out of the eastern areas. Any leftover light rain will likely come to an end near the Alabama-Georgia state line by late Saturday morning.
