The National Weather Service Office in Mobile has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect from 1 PM this afternoon through Sunday morning.
The Flash Flood Watch includes the southwest Alabama counties of Choctaw, lower Baldwin, lower Mobile, upper Baldwin, upper Mobile and Washington.
Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage over the watch area through this afternoon, and will continue to spread across the area through tonight.
Additional numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop again Saturday, potentially continuing into Saturday night.
Storm total rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches will be likely, with localized totals of 4 to 7 inches possible where thunderstorms repeatedly move over the same area.
Ground conditions over many locations in the watch area remain saturated from recent significant rainfall. Thus…additional heavy rains will increase the potential for flooding and flash flooding.
