The upper trough over the Mississippi River Valley will continue eastward today as the main circulation and energy associated with the trough move off to the northeast and away from Alabama.
A shortwave trough, which is located over Arkansas will probably lead to additional shower and thunderstorm development for Alabama today.
Instability will be much lower today compared to the previous few days…so we are not expecting severe thunderstorms.
By this evening…Alabama will be on the back side of the upper trough, and this should keep rain chances relatively low for tonight and on Thursday.
Another shortwave trough will approach from the northwest Thursday night into Friday. As a result, the rain chances will increase again.
