We will have one more day of hot and humid weather before a cold front arrives tonight bringing a few days of cooler and drier air.
Ahead of the front, isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon over the northern third of the state.
The stronger storms will produce gusty winds of 40 mph or higher.
Highs will reach the lower to middle 90’s across the northern sections of the state. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 90’s across the southern sections.
The heat index will reach 100 over most areas of Alabama today, with southern sections near 105.
A heat advisory is in effect for portions of southeast Alabama, where the heat index is expected to reach 108 degrees this afternoon.
The front will continue to sink south into south Alabama on Thursday…along with the chance of any widely scattered storms.
The weather will be noticeably drier and cooler for the end of the week, with night time lows dropping into the upper 50’s Friday and Saturday mornings across the northern sections of the state.
