High pressure continues to dominate the weather conditions across Alabama.
Partly cloudy conditions along with hot temperatures in the lower to mid 90s are expected today.
Heat index values will climb to between 95 and 100 degrees in the afternoon.
This strong daytime heating will produce isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms by this afternoon. Southwest winds between 5 and 10 mph with higher gusts near thunderstorms can be expected.
Weather changes are ahead by Monday evening as an upper trough really starts to dig southwards. Several waves of showers and storms will develop and move southeastward from Arkansas and western Tennessee. Outflow boundaries created from these storms will help trigger numerous showers and storms as soon as Monday evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed the northern third of the state in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms for Monday into early Tuesday morning. We will be watching the upcoming system and refine the forecast in regards to the chances and timing of the storms with this system.
