The abnormally strong cold front for mid July was headed toward north Alabama from far northwest Mississippi this morning.
Plenty of moisture remains over the region ahead of this system.
We expect redevelopment of showers and thunderstorms over northwest Alabama as the front moves southeast through the state today.
If we experience some daytime heating, a few strong storms are possible ahead of the front with locally heavy rain and gusty winds possible.
These storms should remain below severe limits due to weak lapse rates.
The rain chances will diminish from northwest to southeast through the afternoon and evening.
A different airmass will move in with unseasonably cool and drier conditions expected from Wednesday through Friday.
