The unusual weather continues for Alabama as Widespread rain is spreading into north and west Alabama this morning. The over-running moisture setup this morning is more like a system we would see in the fall of the year.
A shortwave trough and weak surface low pressure is forecast to form in east Texas and move up into Mississippi over the next 24 hours.
South winds ahead of the developing surface Low has caused an area of overrunning showers to break out.
This large shield of rain is forecast to bring an extended period of wet weather into the state.
Temperatures will be held down today due to all the clouds and rain. This will help to keep instability down, reducing the thunderstorm risk for northern and central sections.
Thunderstorms will be possible across southern areas of the state where more instability and daytime heating will occur by this afternoon.
The wet weather is expected to continue on and off through the weekend, and into next week as the weather pattern remains unsettled.
