The shortwave trough responsible for the widespread rainfall that occurred over Alabama Friday and which continues early this morning for some locations is pulling off to the northeast and away from the state.
A weak surface low pressure area was located over northeast Mississippi as of 5 AM. A warm front is draped southeast from the Low…and a cold front stretches southward from the Low.
Showers are possible again today as the cold front will slowly make it into the western sections while the warm front lifts north.
We believe the rain chances will continue through the day with indications that folks in the western part of the state will see less coverage as this system moves over the eastern sections of the state.
During the afternoon isolated thunderstorms are possible in the eastern half of the state. Afternoon highs will be in the lower 80s in most areas.
