A cold front is located to our north in the Ohio Valley region and moving southeast. Thunderstorms…some strong and severe have been occurring to our north today.
Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will move into north Alabama tonight, ahead of the approaching cold front.
Some of the storms will produce gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning. These storms are not expected to be severe tonight.
For north and central Alabama…shower and thunderstorm activity will give way to clearing skies early Monday as drier air quickly filters into the region.
Tomorrow, as the front moves southward through the state, additional thunderstorms are possible and some of these could be severe.
The best chance of severe storms will be during the afternoon south of the Highway 80/I-85 corridor, where damaging winds and large hail are possible.
Behind this front, cooler temperatures are expected with possible record lows Wednesday morning.
