Weather remains tranquil across Alabama this morning, as scattered thunderstorms have developed to the north in Tennessee and along the coast.
A upper level shortwave trough is located along the Missouri and Illinois border this morning. This disturbance will slowly approach the southeast today and tonight.
Low level moisture is in the process of returning to the area today as well.
The combination of moisture, daytime heating, and upper level disturbances will bring rain chances back into the forecast by this afternoon.
The best chance of seeing scattered showers and thunderstorms will be over northern Alabama with the approach of the trough…and across the southern counties as convection fires along the Gulf Sea Breeze and then moves inland across south Alabama.
Afternoon highs will reach into the 90’s for most areas…producing hot and muggy conditions.
