A large upper ridge of high pressure is expected to build over the southeast through the rest of this week.
This will result in the longest heat wave of the summer thus far in Alabama.
Hot and muggy weather will return today with highs back in the lower to middle 90s.
There is still a slight chance of thunderstorms, as we watch for the possibility of thunderstorms firing north of Alabama and moving south. In addition there could be a pop-up storm in the heat of the day.
No severe weather is expected but some storms may produce gusty winds and brief heavy rain.
Hot and dry weather is anticipated for the next several days.
Afternoon highs are expected in the 90’s state wide today, and expected to climb higher for the rest of the week.
