We will have a couple more days of dry weather across Alabama as high pressure maintains control over most of the southeastern U.S.
Mostly sunny skies and hot temperatures will rule the weather over the state today.
Afternoon highs will reach into the 90’s over the area, as the late August sun reminds us that it’s still summer.
Air Quality Alert… A Code Orange Air Quality Alert has been issued today for Jefferson and Shelby counties due to high ozone levels over the region.
By the end of the week, and especially over the weekend, the moisture levels will increase to the point where scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will come back into the forecast.
Also helping to set off the rain over the weekend, will be a shortwave trough moving across the middle of the country and into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys…and disturbances moving in from the Gulf into Alabama. It looks like the best chances of widespread rain will come on Saturday and Saturday night.
