Drier Air Expected to Reduce Thunderstorm Chances

A weak cold frontal boundary will push into north Alabama today. A mix of clouds and sun is expected over most of the state.

Look for scattered showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of the front. The best rain chances will be south of the I-59 corridor this afternoon.

Severe weather is not expected however locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds around 30 to 40mph will be possible south of the front.

Afternoon highs will top out in the middle to upper 80’s for northern sections while 90’s is expected over southern parts of the state.

The weak frontal boundary will stall out over the southern half of Alabama and then wash out by Tuesday or Wednesday.

The air will be drier behind the frontal boundary, and this will reduce the chances of seeing afternoon showers and thunderstorms
