The shortwave responsible for the showers and thunderstorms on Thursday into last night has pushed south to along the coast this morning.
The showers and thunderstorms are along the coast and just offshore, where the best chances of seeing rain today will stay in that region.
The high pressure ridge will build into Alabama and keep a mostly dry northwest flow aloft.
We can’t take the rain chances totally out of the forecast today. There is enough humidity combined with the daytime heating we could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms.
I don’t see as many storms as we experienced on Thursday and the chances are in the 10 to 20 percent range.
Afternoon highs will be close to normal for this time of the year with low 80’s across the north…mid 80’s for central locations and upper 80’s down south.
The weekend weather is looking mostly dry as high pressure dominates the Alabama weather. Another cool front is expected to move into the state at the start of next week.
