The cold front is moving a bit slower than anticipated, but it’s still making southward progress. The front stretches across the south central sections of Alabama early this morning.
Behind the front, skies are clearing and temperatures have fallen into the upper 50’s and low 60’s, with the coolest temperatures in the far north.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue along an out just ahead of the front. The better chances of rain will occur over the far south and southeastern sections of the state through the afternoon hours.
For the Tennessee Valley…we expect to see plenty of sunshine today and temperatures running around 5-10 degrees below average for late September. Highs will range from the lower 70’s in the higher terrain of northeast Alabama to the mid and upper 70’s elsewhere.
Partly cloudy conditions will give way to mostly sunshine over the central locations with temperatures reaching around 80 for the afternoon high.
Out ahead of the front, temperatures will reach the mid to perhaps upper 80’s in some locations.
The front is expected to clear the state tonight, and mostly fair, cooler and dry weather is expected in Alabama for the week ahead.
