Lots of clouds over Alabama today as moisture increases over the region. Weather models continues to slow down the arrival of rainfall and where rainfall totals will be highest over Alabama.
We are going to have to make changes in the weather forecast as the chances of widespread rain is diminishing for north and central Alabama.
Cloudy skies are expected today with highs in the mid and upper 70’s. A few showers are possible but widespread rain will be to the south.
An area of low pressure is off the coast this morning and is expected to track east-northeast later today and tonight. This will keep most of the rain in southern sections of the state.
We will continue to watch how far north the main rain area moves tonight and into Monday morning. Although there could be some showers scattered over northern sections, the best chances will remain south of Birmingham.
The chances of widespread rain will remain over the southern third of Alabama where some heavy rain remains likely.
In fact a Flash Flood Watch is in for Coffee, Dale, Conecuh, Covington, Escambia, Geneva, Henry, Houston, lower Baldwin, lower Mobile, upper Baldwin and upper Mobile.
Folks in the watch area can expect rain totals between 2 to 4 inches with locally heavier amounts, which may produce some flooding.
