A band of showers and thunderstorms moved into Alabama during the early morning hours. There have been a few reports of wind damage along this band, with the Huntsville weather office reporting 14 reports of wind damage and 1 EF-0 tornado in the city of Madison.
This band of storms will continue to move east and out of Alabama through the morning hours. The cold front is still back to our west and will move into the state later this morning.
The front will make a steady progression towards the east and south…and some additional showers and thunderstorms may develop along and just ahead of the front through the afternoon.
The front is still on track to clear the state by later today, and by this evening a cool and dry airmass will take over Alabama’s weather.
Temperatures tonight will cool down to the 40’s and 50’s across the area and the weather for Saturday will be fantastic with bright sunny skies. High temperatures for Saturday will reach only into the 60’s for the northern half of the state and around 70 for the southern third of Alabama.
The really cool morning will be on Sunday with 40’s state wide expected, with some of the northern locations dipping into the upper 30’s.
Our next chance of rain comes back on Tuesday as we expect to see a return of some Gulf moisture and a disturbance moves across the area.
