After a weekend of fall weather, today looks to become active for parts of Alabama.
We are watching an upper disturbance over Oklahoma and Arkansas and a surface boundary that extends across southern Missouri and into the Ohio Valley.
This system will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms back to Alabama starting mainly this afternoon and continuing into the overnight hours.
We expect some storms to be strong to severe this afternoon and evening for northern sections of the state.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a slight risk of severe weather today for north and northwestern Alabama.
Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats with these storms.
With partly to mostly cloudy skies, the afternoon high temperatures will range from the mid 70’s across the north to low 80’s across the south.
