Partly cloudy skies will prevail over Alabama today, with more scattered showers and thunderstorms possible.
An increasingly warm and humid airmass spreading northward into northern sections will produce scattered thundershowers this morning.
A passing upper level disturbance will likely lead to another round of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.
As in recent days, the better chances of rain will affect the northern and central sections of Alabama.
Some of the storms this afternoon will be capable of producing locally strong winds, hail, frequent lightning and torrential rains. There is a risk of a few severe thunderstorms developing this afternoon.
Afternoon high temperatures will reach around 80 across northern sections…warming into the upper 80’s in the south.
The thunderstorms are expected to taper off by this evening. We are watching the movement of a strong storm system out west that is expected to move into Alabama late Monday. This system will have the potential of producing widespread severe weather, and we will be updating the blog with frequent updates.
