Heavy rains have fallen oven the last 48 hours over portions of north and northwest Alabama. Reports of 2 to 6 inches of rain have fallen over the last several days.
An additional 2 to 3 inches of heavy rainfall…with localized higher amounts are possible today and tonight in the watch area.
The additional rainfall expected will be enough to aggravate any streams and creeks that are running above normal. Flooding will be possible in low lying areas and across roadways…especially roads that are close to creeks and streams. Ponding of water will be likely in urban areas where poor drainage exists.
Huntsville weather office has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7:00 PM this evening through 1:00 PM Tuesday for Colbert, Cullman, De Kalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan.
The Birmingham weather office has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7:00 PM this evening through 1:00 PM Tuesday for Blount, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, Winston.
