The brutal cold air mass experienced this week has finally given way to milder weather thanks to a southerly wind flow.
We expect afternoon temperatures to warm into the 50’s north and 60’s south through the rest of the week.
Look for scattered clouds to move across the region, especially across the northern sections at times. We don’t expect to see much in the way of rain chances through the early part of the weekend.
The weather will quickly deteriorate Saturday night as our next storm system will be over Texas. The system will accelerate northeast and take on a negative tilt.
Wind flow throughout the atmosphere will increase along with shear values. We expect widespread showers and thunderstorms to move into Alabama Saturday night and continue into Sunday.
We will be watching for the potential of severe weather, especially over southern sections of the state.
This system has some time before affecting the area, so we will watch future developments with the system and provide updates along the way.
