The National Weather Service offices in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile have issued Flash Flood Watches that covers much of Alabama.
A low pressure system is forecast to move across Alabama over the next 36 hours. Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall are expected from this afternoon through Sunday night across Alabama.
Total rainfall amounts around 2 to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts are expected.
Localized higher amounts over 4 inches cannot be ruled out from showers and thunderstorms moving over the same areas.
Streams, urban and low lying areas will be especially prone to ponding of water and flooding issues.
Due to heavy rainfall that fell on December 23rd…already saturated ground conditions will contribute to a higher threat of flash flooding.
