A quick moving system is traveling east along the Gulf and will bring widespread rain into Alabama through the day.
Temperatures are cold enough across the northern sections to allow the precipitation to be mixed, especially when it starts falling this morning.
Light rain may mix with sleet and snow generally north of a line from Tuscaloosa to Anniston today, but no accumulation is expected for most areas at this time. Grassy areas and cars may receive an half-inch of snow.
The ground temperatures are above freezing, and any sleet or snow should not accumulate on roads. There could be some issues with slick spots on bridges and overpasses, especially over the Tennessee Valley region…so we will keep a close watch.
The highest rain chances should remain across the southern areas of the state, where the heaviest area of rain will fall.
This system will be moving out of the state by this afternoon, and we expect clearing to finally make in into the region on Friday.
