Alabama has seen an abundance of rain overnight with more expected today.
The heaviest rain will occur over southern sections of the state.
Temperatures will vary with daytime highs in the 40’s north, and 50’s and 60’s south.
The storm system bringing rain to Alabama today will move east this afternoon.
Colder air will filter in behind the system and bring in a chance for a rain/snow mix tonight across the northern sections of the state.
We expect the mix will occur along and north of a Fayette to Gardendale to Jacksonville line.
The best time to see the mix will start after Midnight tonight, then tapering off by Saturday morning.
A decent chance exist for a dusting for the northern third of the state. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some one-half inch totals over the higher elevations of northeast Alabama.
Roadways will remain too warm for accumulation, however there could be some icy conditions on bridges and overpasses.
Conditions will improve quickly Saturday morning after sunrise as the moisture moves east of the state.
