We are shaping up for a nice day today for the last day of January after the chilly start.
Look for high cloudiness to be increasing throughout today and tonight. Daytime highs will range through the 50’s for most areas.
Overnight lows tonight should not be quite as chilly ranging from the middle 30’s north to the 40’s south.
Sunday looks like a rainy day for Alabama…as a surface low moves into the Ohio Valley. An associated cold front will move into Alabama Sunday evening and through the state by Monday morning.
Widespread rain is likely with this system, and we would not be surprised if there are a few rumbles of thunder Sunday afternoon and evening.
Colder air will filter down into north Alabama after Midnight on Sunday. This could change the rain into a wintry mix in the early morning hours on Monday. Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing, so any wintry precipitation would not produce accumulations…except perhaps on rooftops, cars and grassy areas at the most.
Some snow flurries will continue into the morning hours on Monday, before drying out. Monday looks to be a cold and windy day for the state.
The dry weather will continue into Wednesday, when the next system affects the region.
