A low pressure system will develop over the western Gulf of Mexico and move eastward from Monday through Tuesday.
This system, combined with below freezing temperatures, could bring accumulating snow, sleet and freezing rain to Alabama beginning early Monday.
Depending on the track of the Low, parts of Alabama could see a significant impact from this system.
Based on early analysis, the northern third of the state would see mostly snow with 2 or more inches possible.
For areas just south of the snow band, there is a good chance of freezing rain from this storm. Some of the weather models are pointing to around .50 of freezing rain along the I-20 corridor including the city of Birmingham.
Needless to say, there will be further updates with this system…and residents of Alabama are advised to stay up to date on the latest weather information and advisories issued from the National Weather Service.
