Birmingham Issues Winter Storm Watch

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Winter Storm Watch…which is in effect from late Sunday night through Monday evening.

*Counties in the Watch…Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston.

* Event…accumulating snow…sleet…and freezing rain will be possible.

* Timing…starting as early as midnight in the far northwest…then continuing through Monday…before switching to mainly rain after 10 PM Monday night.

* Location…of the biggest impact will be for areas from Millport…to Alabaster…to Roanoke.

* Accumulations…of snow and sleet could be 2 inches or greater in the far northwest…with ice accumulations between a tenth to three-tenths of an inch in the watch area.
