Huntsville Issues Winter Storm Watch

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from late Sunday night through late Monday night.

*Counties in the Watch…Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan.

* Timing and areas affected…all counties in northern Alabama and southern middle Tennessee. The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late Sunday night through late Monday night.

* Accumulations…snow accumulations in the 2.5 to 4 inch range…with highest amounts across northwest Alabama.

* Other hazards…accumulations of sleet and light freezing rain are expected in addition to the snow. Freezing rain accumulations will generally be between 0.1 and 0.3 inches and highest to the south of the Tennessee River and east of Interstate 65.

* Impacts…travel will likely be severely impacted by this winter storm.
