The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for a mixture of wintry precipitation… which is
in effect from 6 pm this evening to 6 am Saturday.
*Counties in the advisory: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah and St. Clair
* Timing… 6 pm this evening until 6 am Saturday.
* Marion and Winston counties from 12 Noon today until Midnight.
* Location… generally north of I-20.
* Accumulations… up to one-tenth of an inch of snow… sleet and
A wintry mixture expected across the northern one-quarter of central Alabama this afternoon and tonight.
Temperatures will stay below freezing for much of the day across the advisory area.
There may be some flurries this morning, however a mixture of sleet and light snow is possible across the northwest counties early this afternoon and spreading eastward
during the afternoon.
As temperatures warm aloft, light freezing rain becomes more likely by late afternoon and overnight. The threat of freezing rain is the primary impact for the issuance of this advisory.
