All of the Winter Weather Advisories have been cancelled for the remaining counties in Alabama.
Wind gusts above 25 mph from the southeast have been reported at several locations in the past few hours, as gradient winds increase ahead of a deepening surface Low over Arkansas.
Showers will develop across areas north of the I-85 corridor today with the best chance of rain across the northwest counties of the state.
Temperatures will rise significantly today due to brisk southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 60’s for much of Alabama today. The exception will be the extreme northern sections where temperatures will still reach the 50’s.
A cold front will push into northwest Alabama tonight. Rain…heavy at times will develop across areas north of I-20.
The combination of convergence along the front and surface dewpoints climbing into the 50’s…may produce some thunderstorms overnight.
The rainfall intensity and coverage will decrease on Sunday as the forcing decreases along the cold front.
The models are showing rain continuing well behind the front. So we expect the rain chances will continue through the day Sunday.
