Thunderstorms will increase in coverage this afternoon ahead of a strong cold front approaching Alabama from the northwest.
Conditions will be favorable for the development of severe storms, with damaging winds and large hail the primary threats.
A few individual supercell storms may develop across northwest Alabama, with an even higher threat for severe weather from this activity.
These individual supercell storms have a low threat for tornado development.
The SPC has placed northwest Alabama under an ‘Enhanced risk’ of severe weather. We will be monitoring the latest developments through the day.
