A strong cold front is still on track to move into northwestern Alabama after Midnight.
The main surface Low with this system will be well to the north in the Great Lakes. This would take the best dynamics well to the north with the initial push of the front Friday morning.
Strong storms are not out of the question as the system works in…but the best chances of severe weather remains to our north and west.
We won’t rule out a few severe storms in northwest sections of Alabama along and ahead of the front. The SPC maintains a slight risk for the northwest corner of the state.
The showers and storms will move east and south just ahead and along the front.
With the system moving in the morning, there will not be a lot of heating to work with initially, so this will limit stronger storms in the morning.
We will need to watch south Alabama Friday afternoon, as their could be enough instability associated with daytime heating to produce some strong to severe storms.
We will be watching the weather closely overnight, in the event conditions change and storms become severe.
