The cold front that has produced considerable severe thunderstorms northwest of the state is moving into the northwest sections of the state this morning. There has been some heavy rains and lots of lightning so far across northern sections.
As expected, the storms are on a weakening trend…as the dynamics of the storm system remain north of Alabama. There have been no reports of severe weather this morning across the state.
The front will advance southeast through the day, and the showers and storms will continue to move south and east.
It’s possible that some strong or severe thunderstorms may develop later today over southern sections.
The SPC maintains a slight risk of severe weather for the southern third of the state.
