Saturday Evening Update

For tonight we have removed the possibility of severe storms from the forecast. Rain chances should increase through the evening hours with showers likely overnight and a chance for a few thunderstorms.

A flash flood watch is in effect for the southern sections of the state through at least Sunday morning. The heavier storms may produce up to 2 to 4 inches of rainfall which may lead to flash flooding.

For Sunday, showers and thunderstorms may affect East Alabama during the morning. Additional isolated to scattered showers and storms are possible area-wide for Sunday afternoon.

By Sunday night the forecast becomes more uncertain, and we will be monitoring the potential for severe storms. Currently storms are expected to develop to our west Sunday evening and move into West Alabama late Sunday Night.

Some storms could be severe with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats, though tornadoes cannot totally be ruled out.

The severe threat will be possible area-wide, but the highest chance appears mainly along and north of Interstate 20. I will be updating the blog as the forecast is updated.
