A multiple wave storm system will slide through beginning Saturday afternoon across southwest Alabama with the passage of a warm front. This warm front will move north and showers and thunderstorms are expected to move northward across the state by Saturday evening.
A slight risk of severe weather is forecast across southwest Alabama with this system later today into the evening hours.
Any areas of heavy rainfall could result in localized flash flooding during the overnight period Saturday night into Sunday morning.
There will be a second round of strong to severe thunderstorms that will develop ahead of the cold front. There are still some uncertainties in regards as to how widespread this may be.
But if there is development ahead of the cold front, then hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes would be possible overnight Sunday into Monday morning.
The severe risk expands to include most of Alabama late Sunday. I will be updating the blog and Twitter feed as conditions and forecasts warrant.
