Showers and thunderstorms continue to develop this afternoon over north and western sections of Alabama.
A few of these storms could be strong to severe this afternoon. The primary threat will be damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning.
Some local flooding will occur over areas that receive the strongest storms.
SPC is not expecting to issue any severe weather watches through 5 pm with the afternoon storms. This is an indication that they believe that any severe weather won’t be widespread.
Just remember that we don’t have to be under a watch to get an isolated severe thunderstorm.
We expect the storms to wind down late afternoon and into the evening hours. We still expect another threat of strong to severe thunderstorms by Midnight tonight.
