After some really nice weather the past couple of days, our weather is going to take a turn pretty quickly…starting today.
The weather forecast models show scattered thunderstorms developing across southwest Alabama around Noon and spreading rapidly northward during the early afternoon hours. The storms may reach the I-65 corridor by mid afternoon.
The storms today could produce some wind gusts of 30-40 mph…however no severe storms are expected at this time.
Storms should quickly weaken this evening across Alabama due to loss of daytime heating.
For Memorial Day, lift associated with the Texas short wave trough will push into the state. This will keep fairly high rain chances for Monday and Monday evening.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are likely to impact outdoor activities. Gusty winds, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rains are possible with the stronger storms.
