Hot, humid and unstable conditions will prevail today as daytime high temperatures rise back into the 90’s this afternoon.
The heat index values will rise to around 100 in most locations this afternoon.
We may see temperatures back off a few degrees the next few days, as the heat ridge weakens slightly and moisture levels increase across the region.
We expect to see more scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop in the afternoon and evening hours.
Some of these storms will be capable of producing heavy rain, frequent lightning and strong gusty winds.
Due to the scattered nature of the storms, most folks will remain dry…while the ones affected may see an inch of rain in a short period of time.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Bill will move north of Alabama over the next few days. These remnants many further increase scattered thunderstorm chances for northern sections through Saturday.
The heat ridge will build back into Alabama by Monday of next week, and the temperatures will go back up…while rain chances go back down.
