An expanding heat ridge west of the area will advance more into Alabama today and continue into the upcoming week.
Afternoon high temperatures are expected to read the mid to upper 90’s across the area.
There will be some widely scattered thunderstorms develop across the area. The chances of getting wet are less than 20%, however…heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds will occur with the stronger storms.
Heat index temperatures are expected to reach the 100 to 104 range through Wednesday.
Tuesday and Wednesday still look to be the worst days…as the National Weather Service may issue heat advisories for sections of Alabama at that time.
We believe the heat ridge will began to weaken by Thursday into Saturday. This will help the temperatures to be cooler, thanks to cloud cover and better chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
