A cold front near the Mississippi River is heading our way today. We expect to see fairly widespread coverage of showers and thunderstorms as the front enters the area.
Most of the upper level forcing and best shear will be to our north and east. This will limit the chances of thunderstorms becoming severe.
However some strong storms will remain possible, with the main threat being gusty winds, locally heavy rainfall and frequent lightning strikes.
The cold front will slowly push southward across Alabama tonight and into Sunday morning.
Other than a few lingering showers and storms in the far south…Sunday will be a dry day. We expect the dry conditions to continue through Monday.
Temperatures will fall several degrees below normal in most locations this weekend, with highs in the 80’s.
