The oppressive heat will continue over Alabama today, as we expect highs in the mid to upper 90’s across the state.
With plenty of humidity in place, the heat index will have no problem getting over 100 in most locations.
Meanwhile we focus our attention just to the north across the Ohio Valley where ongoing thunderstorms continue across those areas.
There remains a decent chance of seeing some type of activity drop down into northern sections of the state and producing some strong thunderstorms.
We will continue to monitor upstream developments…as some of the storms may be severe with damaging winds as the main threat. In addition to the winds, expect plenty of lighting, torrential downpours and possibly some hail.
The Storm Prediction Center has much of north Alabama in the standard slight risk for today and into tonight. We will be updating the blog and on Twitter as any severe weather event may unfold.
