The surface front boundary that produced the scattered thunderstorms over central and southern sections of the state on Wednesday will wash out today…with a few scattered storms this afternoon down south.
Temperatures across the northern sections won’t be as bad today as humidity levels will be lower, across the northern half of the state through the day. Southern sections can expect to be in the excessive heat and humidity today.
Unfortunately, the heat ridge out west will expand rapidly east on Friday and continue into the first of next week over Alabama and the southeast.
Temperatures and humidity will increase over the region on Friday and expand through the weekend. Daytime high temperatures will run from the mid 90’s to around 100 state wide.
The combination of the heat and humidity will push heat index readings well into the 100’s over the weekend. The National Weather Service will likely issue Excessive Heat Warnings in the coming days.
There are signs that the heat may back off some by Tuesday as rain chances increase…we will have a better look in the coming days.
