Hot and humid conditions are forecast through the weekend and into next week for Alabama and the southeastern states.
A strong high pressure ridge will allow temperatures to reach the mid and upper 90’s, with a few locations reaching the 100 degree mark.
The heat index is expected to reach the critical value of 105 degrees or higher on Saturday and Sunday in most locations.
The Weather Service has issued heat advisories for most areas of Alabama through Monday evening.
There will be a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours.
The heat and humidity will continue into next week with daytime highs expected to continue into the 90’s.
We will watch future movements and shifts in the high pressure and approach of storms from the north, that could increase the daytime chances of showers and storms next week.
