Many areas of the state received beneficial rains and a break from the heat on Thursday. As almost always…the nature of the summer weather pattern still left some folks with little or no rain.
We are still looking at the weak frontal boundary over northern sections this morning. There will also be some upper level waves moving southeast through the day.
There will be some additional showers and thunderstorms develop throughout the day, with the best chances over the southern and western sections of the state.
As in recent days, if you are caught in some of the heavy storms…you can expect strong winds and lots of lightning along with locally heavy rain.
We expect the weather pattern to change again over the weekend. The heat ridge will build back into the area, and rain chances will come way down as the temperatures go back up.
Afternoon temperatures this weekend look to climb back into the mid and upper 90’s for many locations.
Heat index levels will reach or exceed the 100 degree mark again. The heat is expected to continue into next week.
