Weather model guidance suggest that temperatures today will be a degree or two warmer than yesterday…so today may be the hottest day so far this year for some folks.
I would not be surprised to see several locations with 100 degrees…especially over the western and southern locations of the state.
The good news is that humidity levels will be lower than normal due to the drier air in place over the region. Heat index values will be close to the air temperatures.
We do expect to see a return in moisture levels on Wednesday, and an increase in scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
A disturbance will pass over the region on Thursday, and will provide the needed lift for development of more thunderstorms…especially over the northern section of Alabama.
We will be watching for movement of additional impulses that may continue the above normal rain chances through Friday.
With the increase in clouds and showers, daytime high temperatures will come down a bit for the end of the week period.
