The combination of leftover boundaries and a shortwave moving into Alabama today will lead to numerous showers and thunderstorms.
The weather models indicate plentiful low level moisture with a heavy rainfall potential. Some local areas may see brief flooding conditions with the heavier storms.
There will be some instability that will increase the potential of strong to severe storms over the area.
The Storm Prediction Center has much of the state under the slight to marginal risk of severe thunderstorms through the day into tonight.
The main threat from the stronger storms will be strong to damaging wind gusts. Locally heavy rainfall and frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes are also likely.
