Plenty of Gulf moisture will remain in place over the region through Friday.
We are watching the approach of a couple of upper level disturbances and expect 2 cold fronts to move into the state by late Friday into Saturday.
The first front will move into northwest Alabama today, producing widespread showers and thunderstorms over the region.
No severe weather is expected, as upper level dynamics remain weak. We expect to see some areas to receive gusty winds, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall.
There will remain the chance of additional showers on Friday ahead of the 2nd stronger cold front.
Right now it looks like we might see a good band of showers and storms move in on Friday evening just ahead of the front.
This front will advance southward through the day on Saturday and mark the end to the rain chances.
Much cooler and drier air if forecast to invade the region and the weekend looks cool and dry.
