A strong cold front stretches from the Great Lakes southwestward into the central plains this morning.
This front will bring in some nice fall like weather over the weekend and into next week.
Meanwhile the challenge will be the affects along and ahead of the front that we will be watching today and tonight.
There is an area of drier air over north and central sections of the state this morning and this should allow for a decent amount of sun for a good part of the day.
Scattered thundershowers associated with daytime heating are expected over the southern sections along the weak front that moved into the state on Thursday.
Models indicate an area of storms moving into northwest Alabama ahead of the approaching strong cold front by late afternoon.
Some of these storms may be strong to severe, with strong damaging winds the primary threat.
The main time frame for these storms will be around 3pm for the northwest sections and will move southeast through much of the state by Midnight tonight.
This weather event will be a threat to many of the high school ball games. We will be watching this system through the day as it approaches the region.
